The 2030 UN Agenda, approved by 2050 and composed of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 19 Targets, called the countries to actively participate in their achievement, through urgent actions and measures that congregate everyone’s contribution.
The United Nations Global Compact, the biggest initiative of business sustainability around the world, created by the UN Secretary General in 2020, actively works to deliver this global agenda. Portugal has defined, since the beginning, SDG 5 – Gender Equality as one of its priorities, and the Global Compact Network Portugal have been working, since that moment, with the national companies to support this commitment.
Together, the UN Global Compact and the UN Women created the WEP - Women’s Empowerment Principles, giving special prominence to the SDG 5 – Gender Equality.
The WEP are based on seven Fundamental Principles (adopted by its Portuguese Chapter, supported by the Global Compact Network Portugal)

Today, the WEP - Women’s Empowerment Principles are considered, at a global scale, one fundamental tool in this domain.
More that 5000 companies around the world have made the commitment of implement the seven WEP’s Principles and amplify, in a concrete and ambitious way, its goals on Gender Equality.
